General Examination Guidelines
To qualify for the CDC Exam you must be a current
ADCA Member, with a high school diploma or
GED, and two years experience in dental
billing, with a letter of recommendation from a DDS. Those that
do not meet these qualifications can alternatively enroll in the ADCA
Independent Study Program (ISP) After
successful completion of the ISP, candidates are eligible to take the
CDC examination and certify. All ISP applicants must possess a high
school diploma or GED.
To qualify for the CDCS Exam you must be a current member in good
standing with 5 years of dental billing experience, and have held the
CDC credential for at least one year.
Exam Details:
The certification consists of 75 random questions. The format includes
fill in the blanks, true and false, and multiple choice questions.
Images, video, and problem based scenarios are used throughout the
examination.
The exam is a computerized, open book examination, delivered via the
internet, based on the following coding manuals:
Current year AMA CPT® Standard or Professional Edition
Current year ICD-9-CM Standard or Professional Edition
Current year ADA CDT®
Upon completion of the examination you will immediately receive pass/fail results.
Certification Diplomas will be sent to students with a passing grade
within 4 weeks of completion.
The ADCA maintains records and provides certification verification to all
prospective employers.
It is Strongly Advised that all potential candidates enroll in the
ISP or obtain the CDC Study Guide before attempting the CDC examination.
